What is Red Light Therapy?
Red Light Therapy – also known as Photobiomodulation Therapy (PBM) and
Low-level Laser Therapy (LLLT) – is a non-invasive treatment that uses low-level red light wavelengths to promote healing and improve various conditions. Red light therapy works by penetrating the skin and stimulating cells to produce more energy, which can help to increase blood flow, reduce inflammation, and promote tissue repair.
It achieves this by reducing Oxidative Stress – a commonly occurring imbalance between free radicals and antioxidants. Red light therapy helps promote the body’s natural processes for metabolising free radicals, minimising the damage they cause.
Red light therapy is often used to treat skin conditions such as acne, wrinkles, and age spots, as well as to reduce pain and inflammation in joints and muscles. It is also used for general wellness purposes, including improving sleep, reducing stress, enhancing athletic performance and boosting the immune system.
The TheraLight 360 Full-body Photobiomodulation System provides the only true 360° treatment surface with 45,000 LEDs. The TheraLight 360 provides the ultimate full-body Photobiomodulation experience for boosted energy and mood as well as reduced inflammation throughout the body.
Does Red Light Therapy Work?
PUBLISHED EVIDENCE
Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology studied Photobiomodulation (PBM), red and near-infrared light, and its ability to stimulate healing, relieve pain, and reduce inflammation. One of the most reproducible effects of PBM is an overall reduction in inflammation, which is particularly important for disorders of the joints, traumatic injuries, lung disorders, and, in the brain. PBM has been shown to reduce markers of M1 phenotype in activated macrophages. PBM can reduce inflammation in the brain, abdominal fat, wounds, lungs, spinal cord. Learn More >
Department of Anesthesiology, College of Medicine, University of Arizona reviewed a growing body of evidence that supports the modulation of pain by light exposure. As such, phototherapy is being increasingly utilized for the management of a variety of pain conditions. Learn More >
The Institute of Ophthalmology of the University of London has recently proved that red light improves the declining eyesight for individuals over 40. Just a 3-minute of red light of 670nm a day for 2 weeks showed significant improvement. Read the full study published 6.29.20 here >
